27 Times Cinema will be back in Venice for its 14th edition

This year will mark the 14th edition of the 27 Times Cinema project, which welcomes 27 young cinephiles from all EU countries to the Lido during the Venice International Film Festival (30 August-9 September). The initiative is a joint effort organised by the Giornate degli Autori, the European Parliament's LUX Audience Award and Europa Cinemas, in collaboration with Cineuropa.

The aim of the project remains the same: gathering European film lovers, all aged 18 to 25, to constitute the only official jury for the Giornate degli Autori (Venice’s parallel sidebar), in charge of assigning the GdA Director's Award, which carries a cash prize of €20,000 to be split between the director and the distributor of the winning film.

During their stay at the Lido the 27 Times Cinema participants will report on the films and events they attend through articles and interviews that will be published on Cineuropa's 27 Times Cinema blog. After the festival, these young jurors will take on the role of ambassadors for the LUX Audience Award, contributing as influencers and promoting the nominated titles (to be unveiled during the European Film Awards) both on social media and in their respective cinemas back home (all part of the Europa Cinemas network).

It is worth noting that 2024 will also be the year of the next European elections. The ambassadors will play an essential role in supporting the institutional election campaign of the European Parliament among their networks.
