EXCLUSIVE: Poster for Locarno Semaine de la Critique title Monogamia

Tel Aviv-based documentary filmmaker Ohad Milstein is set to premiere his new effort at the Locarno Film Festival’s Semaine de la Critique. The picture, titled Monogamia, is the third chapter of a family trilogy, which follows the films Week 23 and Summer Nights [+see also:

The feature’s official synopsis reads as follows: “Monogamia takes you on a roller-coaster journey into the world of love and intimacy within committed relationships. Follow the director’s personal quest to bring back the love that once flourished between his parents. As you watch, the inevitable question arises: Can love indeed endure the test of time? Can the revelation of buried secrets revive the spark of long-lost intimacy? Does monogamy stop being monogamy after tasting the ‘forbidden fruit’? Amidst this captivating exploration, consider the excitement and price of open relationships.”

The film promises to “delve into the complexities of human connections, challenging perceptions of love and commitment,” and to “examine the profound impact of loneliness in marriage, which may drive individuals to make decisions they could regret later.”

Monogamia was produced by Ohad Milstein. The project was backed by Israel’s Channel HOT8 and Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), and was made in collaboration with ARTE. Additional funding was provided by the Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts.
