Policemen Bax and Pirmin are not your average detectives. Nothing usually happens in their remote mountain village. The biggest event that takes place is usually the road-safety lessons they impart to schoolchildren. No one takes them seriously, not even the kids. When a drug deal goes awry, they finally have a chance to prove their worth. The third and fourth seasons of Tschugger will bring new adventures for the team.

At first, everything seems more or less peaceful. Bax and Pirmin are each living their own lives: the former tries his luck outside the canton of Valais, while the latter enjoys being a parent with his wife, Regina. But the past will not let them rest: a hidden last will and testament turns up, and two murders later, the colleagues' criminal instincts are reawakened and they are back on duty. Ambitious rapper Valmira and her manager Juni, who is still trying to devise the perfect promotional plan, are also back in the game.

The main roles are played by the same cast members as in the first two seasons. The police officers are played by Dragan Vujic as Pirmin and David Constantin as Bax. For his performance, Constantin won the Award for Best Leading Role in a Television Production at the 2023 Solothurn Film Festival. The actor was also named Face of the Year 2022 at the Swiss G&G Awards. Constantin is once again also acting as the writer and co-director of the series, together with Johannes Bachmann. For the script, which was developed in the SRF Writers' Room, the pair gained the support of several authors – namely, Jelena Vujović, Fiona Schreier, Pascal Glatz, Christian Wehrlin, Rafael Kistler and Mats Frey. Moreover, Kistler is the cinematographer on the series.

Shooting started during the first week of April and will continue until mid-July in several spots in the cantons of Valais, Zurich and Bern. Sophie Toth from Shining Film, based in Zurich, is also producing seasons 3 and 4.

Tschugger is a production by Shining Film and TV channel SRF. The broadcast date for the third season is scheduled for the end of 2023; the date for the fourth season is still undecided.
